Changes to the buying process in France

Have you heard that the cooling off period in France has been extended from seven to ten days? This period begins once the compromis de vente has been signed, and the extension now provides buyers a couple of extra days before committing to the purchase. Remember, once the cooling off period has ceased, you cannot pull out of the sale – so you must make sure you are 100% sure it’s the right decision.

The France Show, 29th-31st January 2015

One of the biggest events in the France Buying Guide’s calendar is the France Show, and this is coming up in January. Held at Olympia, London, it’s an exhibition on all things that France has to offer, and has a huge section on French property. There will be a number of informative seminars to attend to help you to brush up your knowledge on the buying process and it’s a great day out even if you are in the early stages of planning. Our France team will be on stand number 227 and giving out free copies of the France Buying Guide. You can buy tickets here

Keep an eye on the exchange rate

The GBP/EUR exchange rate is very volatile at the moment, making it so important to be extra careful when you are budgeting for your purchase in France. When the exchange rate fluctuates, the cost of the property does too, so make sure you are working with a currency exchange specialist to protect yourself against these movements. We recommend Smart Currency Exchange because they specialise in overseas property purchases, and are the chosen currency exchange partner of industry leaders Rightmove Overseas and APlaceintheSun.com. You can register with them for free via this link
